15. Grants and other payments

Grants send money to states, cities, schools, nonprofits and researchers for a purpose. Other payments include things like loans and direct payments to people. A lot of state and local money starts as a federal grant.

Show sources for:

Who holds the money or the vote here?

The grant recipient (often your state, county or city) holds and spends it.

How often does it happen?

Every day; many grants are yearly.

Where the records come from

Federal data is the same for everyone. When you pick a state, the state and local rows are the places to look for your state. "Have now" means PSI Sci already collects it; "Planned" means we list the source but do not collect it yet.
